About DGH
Who We Are
Do Good Humaning is a community-centered creative collective based in NW Houston. Founded by artists Shellee Layne and Mandy Chalynn with the mission of inviting people to practice humaning together through art, conversation, and collaboration.
What We Do
We design and host workshops, programs, and gatherings that nurture connection and creative expression as well as individual and community wellbeing.
Why We Do It
We believe community is a skill we practice, not just a place we live. In a world that often feels disconnected, we aim to cultivate spaces where people can belong, be seen, and build supportive networks that meet real-world needs.
How We Do It
We create low-cost resources and organize programs and initiatives through collaborations between local businesses, nonprofits, and neighbors. Our community has needs, our neighbors have resources.
HOW YOU CAN HUMAN WITH US?
Next year, Do Good Humaning is entering a new chapter of growth and impact. We’re expanding our footprint through partnerships with businesses and non-profits across Greater Houston, and forming more community-driven programs and practical pathways for people to love their neighbors with dignity and care. By investing in our infrastructure, donors like you help us multiply every dollar and hour contributed across our network, turning small acts into big impact.

What’s the Plan for 2026
- Host weekly gatherings for women centering on art, relationships, and conversation.
- Host social gatherings for the community such as game nights, paint and sip events, book clubs, music circles, and community support initiatives.
- Continue to organize the community together to relieve food insecurity through food drives, community meals, and fundraising for The Renewal Center’s Pay-It-Forward meal program which provides a nourishing meal free of charge to anyone in need.
- Provide group and one-on-one humaning direction through our Spiritual Director, Kelly Hall.
Let’s do good humaning together!
