About Mandy & Shellee

About Shellee:

I am a singer-songwriter, mom of way fewer kids than Mandy, and co-owner and Virgo Visionary (aka picky af) of *Do Good Humaning*.
After years of performing and teaching various forms of creative expression, my experiences—along with my journey of deconstructing and reconstructing my religious upbringing—evolved into a life philosophy I started calling the "Art of Humaning."
Though I’ve struggled with “people-ing” most of my life, I have a deep love for humanity and genuinely believe in the good that can come from it. One morning, after a particularly shitty week, I literally woke up one morning and thought, “Welp, I guess this is just the “messy art” of Humaning,” and then promptly opened an Instagram account with that name (because let’s be honest, it’s not official until you claim the IG).
Since then, I’ve dreamed of starting a company that celebrates the human journey in all its ups, downs, and in-betweens. Humaning, for me, is about being present in the little moments that make up our lives and building healthy relationships both yourself and others.
After spending five years dreaming, tweaking, creating, plotting, twisting and Marco-Polo-ing with Mandy, *Do Good Humaning* finally became a real live boy (I mean, business) in the dumpster fire year of our lord, 2024.
My love language is a mix of coziness, carbs, air conditioning, and an occasional shot of something stronger. I love French fries, despise sweet tea and keep trying to escape Texas, but somehow, the "moist crotch of hell" keeps calling me back home.
Humaning is hard. You might as well have cute stickers that remind you to keep going.

About Mandy:

Meet Mandy Chalynn, writer, artist, and mom of seven, sweating out her days in the moist crotch of Hell, also known as Texas. (But hey, at least we've got delicious barbeque and tacos!)

Yep, that's me-- Co-owner of Do Good Humaning--here to remind myself (and you) that there are so many ways to be human, and we're all learning as we go.

Religious trauma and life's quests have armed me with a sharp wit and a satchel of satire for the humaning journey. I aim to inspire you in your everyday humaning with a mix of sarcasm and down-to-earth encouragement that's refreshing like sweet, iced tea for the soul. Little by little makes a life--I hope you create one you enjoy being in!

Stay curious and do good humaning y'all!

-Mandy

 About Do Good Humaning:

Do Good Humaning (DGH) is a Texas-based, woman-owned small business dedicated to creating fun products and organizing community events that support people on their humaning journey.

We encourage people to reflect on what it means to do good humaning in the small, everyday moments— through self-care, community care, and all the chaos in between.

The reality of life is that humaning can be hard, and humaning while hungry is even harder.  This season we are inviting friends and fellow Texans to join us in addressing an urgent need through our Helpful Humaning Initiative (HHI). A 2024 report by the nation’s food bank network (Map the Meal Gap) revealed that Texas ranks first in the U.S. for food insecurity, with 1 in 6 households and 1 in 4 children struggling with hunger. Food insecurity can affect anyone, especially as the cost of living rises. Even those with steady incomes may face unexpected setbacks—like job loss, medical emergencies, or family crises—that can lead to a disruption in access to food and other necessities.

Marginalized communities, including people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, the elderly, and people with disabilities, are at greater risk due to systemic inequalities.

This season, our aim is to offer support by:

• Repairing and maintaining (Tomball) Main Street Community Fridge, and keeping it stocked with fresh food, dry goods, and hygiene items through the 2024 holidays and all of 2025.

• Co-funding Tomball Renewal Center’s “Pay It Forward” meal program, which provides a fresh nutritious meal, free of charge, to anyone in need, anytime Re:Bar Cafe & Juicestillery is open.

• Offering free community events to spark meaningful conversations and foster connection around the table and through everyday life.

Our goal is to raise at least $50,000. We hope to see our community come together to generously exceed this goal. Every donation helps make these resources more accessible to our community, ensuring full hearts and full bellies.

Will you help to make this happen?

Join us in our mission to do good humaning—because everyone humans better when they’re nourished.
